What. Historically renovated motor hotel in Santa Fe
Description. El Rey Court is instantly charming from Cerrillos, a main road in the Baca Area of the Santa Fe Railyard.
The hotel was recently given some love by “husband-and-wife creative team Jay and Alison Carroll, [who] redesigned the storied adobe motor inn in partnership with Austin-based hotelier Jeff Burns.”
Originally opening in 1936 along the infamous Route 66, El Rey Court has experienced many updates over the decades, but retains its “Pueblo Revival exterior – the classic architectural style of the American Southwest.” And as the Carolls explain, “’We sought to preserve a lot in our renovation, so it was more so about showcasing its bones.’”
Why. How can you not love a historically conscious renovation that exudes both charm and story, like this one?
